21 years in jail for participating in a climate emergency Zoom call
Combined, these 5 face 21 years in jail for participating in a Zoom call to discuss disruptive protest action against
catastrophic new fossil fuel licences.

At trial, the five weren’t allowed to defend their actions in context of the climate emergency. When they spoke the whole truth to the jury, 4 of the 5 were arrested multiple times in court and jailed. The jury entered guilty verdicts against all defendants after Judge Hehir removed all their legal defences, ruling that the climate crisis was ‘irrelevant’ to the trial.
UN Special Rapporteur on environmental defenders under the Aarhus Convention – Michel Forst
“When, in the midst of a triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, a peaceful environmental protester like Mr. Shaw faces an extended prison sentence in the United Kingdom, alarm bells should go off not just across the United Kingdom, but across the international community also. It signals that fundamental pillars of a democratic society are right now in grave peril in the United Kingdom.”
The judge has been known to acquit people with excess money and corporations and also cops who rape vulnerable women.
Not big on petitions myself, but this is such a fucking abuse of power, such a miscarriage of justice that it warrants a signature imho ![]()
Stop Jailing Truth Tellers
Sign the petition! Stop Jailing Those Telling The Truth. I signed a petition on Action Network telling the UK attorney general to stop imprisoning protesters telling the truth on climate. Cressie, Daniel, Lou, Lucia and Roger (the WholeTruthFive) have been sentenced to a combined 21 in prison, the harshest sentences for peaceful protest in UK history.

RCMP spent $11million to police CGL pipeline.
RCMP spent a record amount to protect CGL pipeline last year, the force spent $11 million to patrol a remote road in Wet’suwet’en territory.
Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chief Na’Moks said the RCMP’s big spending facilitates the ongoing “monitoring and intimidation” of Wet’suwet’en people on their traditional territory.
In March, the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission launched an investigation of the unit following a series of complaints and lawsuits. The Community-Industry Response Group has also been involved in controversial enforcement efforts against logging protesters at Fairy Creek on southern Vancouver Island.

Camchin/Lytton
A wildfire burned the entire village of Camchin/Lytton to the ground. In the ashes of their homes, this cohesive but diverse community, which includes a majority of First Nations people, had to confront the realities of climate displacement by being relocated away from their ancestral lands.
Burned to the Ground: the Canadian village incinerated by record temperatures
The small village of Lytton in British Columbia hit the global media when it smashed Canada’s highest temperature record in June 2021, at 49.6C. Two days later, a wildfire burned the entire village to the ground
